Who won the Benelux-competitie? BC Oostende (1987-88).
About the tournament
The Benelux competition of 1987-88 was one of the first attempts at a cross-border club competition in the Low Countries, long before the Cup der Lage Landen (2002) and the BNXT League. Four Dutch teams played four Belgian teams, home and away.
The final, at the end of August 1988, was played over two games between Den Helder and Oostende. In Den Helder it ended 65-65, in Oostende the hosts won 84-72. That made 149-137 over the two games, and Oostende the first and only winner. The competition was not played again after 1987-88.
